Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Maternal Fetal Medicine Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical assessment, examination, and treatment of pregnant women with fetal disorders in an outpatient/hospital setting.

Responsibilities include history taking, rounds, orders, fetal surgery support, lab interpretation, and patient education; ultrasound skills are a plus. Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team is essential.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited NP program.
• Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC).
• Ability to utilize software for data entry and outpatient/inpatient EMR systems; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Provide quality care and conduct diagnostic testing per evidence-based guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing quality assurance audits and provide real-time feedback to improve patient care.
• Perform all admission history and physicals.
• Conduct daily hospital rounds, document progress notes, write orders, and assist with fetal surgery plans.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies.
• Discharge planning including documentation, prescriptions, and patient education.
• Acquire limited ultrasound skills for fetal viability, presentation, and guidance for procedures.
• Chart review and data collection for neonatal follow-up.
• Multi-disciplinary conference presentation preparation.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, associates, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive clinical care.
• Ensure continuous communication with clinic leadership to enhance care quality.
• Provide patient navigation between inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Educate medical students, OB/GYN residents, and MFM fellows.
• Support and participate in research initiatives within the Center.
• Other related functions as assigned.
