Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne is seeking a Lead Materials R&D Technician for the Materials Lab – Characterization. You will manage daily lab operations, coordinate testing, train staff, enforce safety, and drive improvements in data quality and asset integrity.

The role requires hands-on testing in an aerospace lab, strong organization, attention to detail, and collaboration with supervisors to meet weekly goals. Overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years in aerospace testing lab for material characterization (DMA/TMA/DSC/TGA/LFA etc.).
• Experience scheduling work and coordinating priorities.
• Experience managing a team or projects.

Responsibilities

• Daily assignment of work, ensuring proper balancing and bandwidth across the team.
• Coordinate calibration and maintenance to minimize tool/test downtime.
• Identify blockers and assist in resolving daily/weekly testing goals.
• Propose improvements to increase testing efficiency and data quality.
