Job summary

Jacksonville State University is seeking a Materials Handler II in Capital Planning and Facilities to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks that involve heavy and light physical labor. You will move furniture, documents, fixtures, computers, and other objects across campus, potentially supervising junior staff or student employees.

This role requires operating a university vehicle, setting up events, and occasionally climbing scaffolding for exterior cleaning.

Qualifications

• Experience with manual handling and physical tasks.
• Ability to supervise or lead workers when needed.
• Valid driver's license required for campus travel.

Responsibilities

• Reads work orders and instructions to perform moving tasks.
• Moves furniture, fixtures, boxes, and equipment using carts and dollies.
• Sets up tables and chairs for meetings or events.
• Drives university vehicle to transport items on and off campus.
• Cleans exterior surfaces with high-pressure equipment.
• Places and removes directional signs for campus events.
• Paints curbs and maintains campus areas.
• Coordinates movements between buildings and stations.
• Other duties as assigned.
