Job summary

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB (UEC) is seeking a Master Teacher for the CSUSB Children’s Center. The role provides a safe, nurturing environment and delivers a developmentally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children.

The position requires a B.A. in Child Development, one year of early childhood teaching experience (NAEYC preferred), and a Child Development Permit with CPR/First Aid and fingerprint clearance. Regular hours are 40 per week with some evenings/weekends possible.

Qualifications

• B.A. in Child Development or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for children enrolled in our program.
• Prepare and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and plan daily activities tailored to the individual needs of each child and be willing to adjust the curriculum as necessary.
• Be a DAP role model of effective teacher-child interaction in the implementation of the daily operation of the program.
• Able to articulate program goals and philosophy and apply them to working with the children and other adults working in the program.
• Manage children's behavior using positive guidance techniques and limit setting.
• Plan for and facilitate smooth transitions for the children.
• Ensure that all children are being treated with dignity and respect.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
• Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
• Communicate consistently with the Director regarding the functioning of the classroom (progress, problems, and concerns).
• Establish positive and productive relationships and communicate effectively with families (approachable, tactful, keeps parents informed, seeks a partnership with parents, work with parents to promote understanding of their child's growth and development).
• Maintain confidentiality of children and families.
