Job summary

A construction firm in Virginia is looking for an experienced Master Mechanic. This senior-level role involves advanced inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers and excavators. The Master Mechanic will lead repair projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure maximum equipment uptime. The ideal candidate has 8-10 years of experience in heavy equipment repair, and strong manufacturer certifications are preferred. This full-time position requires availability for on-call hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in heavy equipment repair, including 3+ years at a senior or lead mechanic level.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required with hazmat and tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Lead complex repair projects and coordinate with field crews to minimize downtime.
• Mentor and train junior mechanics and apprentices on equipment care.
