We are a reputable and busy masonry contractor seeking an experiencedLead Hod Carrierto join our team. This position is ideal for someone with strong masonry labor experience who is ready to take on a leadership role while continuing to work hands-on in the field.
As a Lead Hod Carrier, you will work closely with project foremen and masons to keep jobs running safely and efficiently. You will help direct other hod carriers and laborers, coordinate materials and equipment, and make sure masonry crews have what they need to stay productive throughout the day.
A successful Lead Hod Carrier takes ownership of their work, plans ahead, and knows what the crew needs before they have to ask.
Responsibilities
Lead and provide direction to hod carriers and masonry laborers on the jobsite.
Coordinate with foremen and masons to understand daily production needs and priorities.
Keep masons supplied with brick, block, mortar, grout, tools, and other materials throughout the workday.
Plan ahead and stage materials and equipment to keep crews working efficiently.
Mix and deliver mortar and grout while maintaining proper consistency.
Load, unload, move, and organize masonry materials and supplies.
Assist with the erection, modification, movement, and dismantling of scaffolding in accordance with company safety procedures.
Safely operate and care for masonry and material-handling equipment.
Coordinate material movement between staging areas, scaffolding, and active work areas.
Monitor material and supply levels and communicate upcoming needs to the foreman.
Help train and develop newer hod carriers and laborers.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, scaffolding, mixing stations, and material staging areas.
Identify potential safety or production issues and communicate them to the foreman.
Follow and help reinforce company safety policies and jobsite procedures.
Assist masons and other crew members as needed to keep the project moving.
Help prepare the jobsite for the following day's work.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a hod carrier, mason tender, or masonry laborer required.
Strong understanding of masonry jobsite operations, materials, tools, and equipment.
Ability to lead and provide clear direction to other laborers.
Ability to anticipate the needs of masons and keep materials flowing efficiently.
Experience mixing mortar and grout and handling masonry materials.
Experience working with masonry scaffolding.
Ability to safely operate construction equipment and machinery appropriate to the position.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving heavy masonry materials.
Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.
Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential.
