Job summary
MISO is seeking a Principal Market Design Engineer to evaluate and shape wholesale electricity markets, using engineering analysis, market data, and grid operations expertise. You will collaborate with engineers, economists, and technology teams to translate findings into actionable market design improvements.
In this role you will develop, assess, and implement market design initiatives, models, and policies to improve efficiency, reliability, and overall market performance across the Central
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field and advanced knowledge in power systems.
- At least eight years of related experience including market design or economics.
- Two-plus years in areas such as market analysis, econometrics, optimization, or related software development.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering and analytical studies of system and market operations and pricing trends.
- Develop and evaluate wholesale market design initiatives and tariffs.
- Assess impact of market changes on structure, efficiency, reliability.
- Improve market models, optimization algorithms, and policy provisions.
- Develop and monitor market performance indicators.
- Analyze data to evaluate proposed market rule changes.
- Review alignment of market systems with tariff requirements.
- Collaborate across disciplines to solve complex market design challenges.
- Communicate complex findings to stakeholders and leadership.
