Lead Marine Painter – Underwater Coatings Division
Ross Marine | Charleston, SC

Ross Marine is seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Marine Painter to head our Marine Underwater Coatings Division. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who takes pride in delivering top-quality work and enjoys mentoring others. If you have experience applying antifoulant paints, running gear coatings, and performing light mechanical tasks, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform the preparation and application of antifoulant paints and running gear coatings.
  • Ensure quality control throughout the coating process, adhering to industry standards.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to new team members.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to manage daily operations and scheduling.
  • Maintain painting and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and effective use.
  • Perform light mechanical tasks as needed to support the department.
  • Complete regular inspections and quality checks to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in marine painting and coatings, specifically with antifoulant and running gear applications.
  • Leadership experience in a marine or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of paint application techniques and surface preparation.
  • Ability to train and guide team members effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a physical, outdoor environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive base hourly pay + performance-based commissions
  • Monday-Friday schedule with occasional overtime on Saturdays (7:30 AM - 4:15 PM)
