Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA seeks a Lead Mammography Technologist to oversee daily workflow, QA, and staff development. You will act as a clinical resource for staff, radiologists, and leadership, ensuring high standards of care and efficient imaging operations.

The role requires ARRT Mammography certification or equivalent experience with leadership, and a 100% FTE daytime schedule. This is a full-time facility-based position within UW Medicine.

Qualifications

  • ARRT registration and one year of experience in the applicable modality, or minimum of 6 months with leadership experience.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where allowed.

Responsibilities

  • Review orders for accuracy and choose appropriate exams based on symptoms.
  • Regularly assign, instruct, and monitor mammography staff.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Mammography Technologist serves as the clinical and operational lead for mammography services, providing oversight of daily workflow, quality assurance activities, regulatory compliance, and staff development. The Lead Mammography Technologist acts as a subject matter expert and resource for mammography staff, radiologists, physicists, and leadership, promoting high standards of care, image quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independently operates all mammography equipment and adheres to proper imaging techniques.
  • Schedules, begins, completes, and cancels exams in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Reviews imaging orders for accuracy and ensures appropriate exam selection based on patient signs and symptoms; seeks clarification when needed.
  • Regularly assigns, instructs, and monitors the work of mammography staff.
  • Serves as the primary clinical resource for mammography workflow, patient care, image quality, and equipment questions.
  • Coordinates daily patient scheduling and workflow to ensure efficient operations.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) And one year of experience in applicable modality OR A minimum of 6 months of technical experience in the applicable modality AND previous leadership experience.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Legal Requirement
  • Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist. For leads in mammography, certified by ARRT as a Mammography Technologist.
