Job DescriptionJob Description

The District Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing, overseeing, and supporting general and preventative maintenance operations across multiple properties the Sioux Falls properties. This role includes the direct training and mentoring of maintenance technicians to ensure all work aligns with Hayloft Property Management policies, procedures, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will serve as a working leader—providing hands-on support, guidance, and oversight to promote consistency, safety, and efficiency across properties.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related technical field
  • Proficient in the use of common hand tools and maintenance equipment
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work
  • Physically capable of handling demanding workloads, including lifting, climbing, and manual labor
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance operations within assigned properties, ensuring all tasks meet company standards
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff on policies, safety protocols, and procedures
  • Complete assigned work orders promptly and professionally
  • Perform a variety of repairs, including general building maintenance, electrical, painting, plumbing, and HVAC work
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment
  • Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with maintenance schedules
  • Foster positive working relationships with staff, residents, vendors, and contractors

Skills & Traits

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and organized, with strong leadership capabilities
  • Proficient in time management and able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of property maintenance systems, boilers, and building operations
  • Experience in painting, light construction, and preventative maintenance practices

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $28–$32 per hour (based on experience)
  • Bonuses: Performance-based bonus options available
  • On-Call: No on-call requirements
