Job summary

The Salvation Army Duluth Corps is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to maintain a clean, safe campus and manage apartment turnovers in Duluth, MN. The role covers HVAC, boiler checks, repairs, and contractor coordination, with a focus on move-in readiness.

Hourly pay between $20.81 and $26.01 for 40 hours per week, with occasional after-hours work. Requires high school diploma, boiler licenses, and a valid driver’s license; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain a Minnesota Special Engineer boiler license within 120 days of employment.
• Must work toward Minnesota Class C boiler license as experience requirements are met.
• Experience in plumbing, mechanical, electrical repairs, HVAC, and facility maintenance.
• Background checks required by The Salvation Army and MN DHS.
• Valid driver’s license, MVR checks, and DOT medical card required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; computers and databases proficiency.

Responsibilities

• HVAC and boiler system support and monitoring; daily boiler checks and maintenance.
• Apartment turnovers: cleaning, painting, repairing, and preparing units for move-in.
• Grounds and seasonal property care including snow removal and lawn upkeep.
• Respond to routine and urgent maintenance, and perform in-house repairs when possible.
• Plumbing and electrical maintenance; minor repairs to reduce water waste.
• Assist with contractor access, on-site coordination, and information relay.
• Repair appliances and equipment; maintain tools and small equipment.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and ensure safe operation.
