Job summary

Mars is seeking a Shift Maintenance Technician to join a rotating team maintaining production equipment and facilities. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with new system installations in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires strong trouble-shooting skills, the ability to design/fabricate with metals and plastics, and the stamina to work long shifts, including weekends, with lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or Equivalent.
• Associate degree or >10 years experience in a technical-related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plant flow, operation and utilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits (AC/DC, single/polyphase) and related equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems.
• Ability to design and fabricate using sheet/structural metals and plastics.
• Basic operation of machine tools.
• Pipe fitting, plumbing, HVAC, boiler and utilities operation/maintenance.
• Knowledge of machine design and materials strengths.
• Safe rigging techniques.

Responsibilities

• Analyze conditions, troubleshoot failures, repair and perform preventive/predictive maintenance on production equipment, buildings and utilities.
• Plan and coordinate work with other associates/contractors.
• Prioritize urgent repairs and ensure permanent fixes within 14 days.
• Lead in troubleshooting process, mechanical and electrical issues affecting schedules.
• Train shift associates on setup, changeovers and operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoot via MMIs and PLC logic.
• Maintain accurate work orders and logs.
• Complete planned work as assigned.
• Maintain and improve electrical/mechanical knowledge to raise service levels.
• Address food safety and quality concerns.
