HopeTree Family Services seeks a Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance operations for its properties in the Richmond area. You will ensure facilities, grounds, and building systems are safe, functional, well-maintained, and compliant with standards, coordinating with inspectors and leadership on routine maintenance and capital projects.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED and broad trades experience (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical).
Summary:The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations for assigned HopeTree Family Services’ properties.
The Lead Maintenance Technicianensures that facilities, grounds, and building systems are safe, functional, well‑maintained, and compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal standards. serves as a primary point of contact for contractors and inspectors, and works closely with facilities leadership to plan and execute both routine maintenance and capital improvement projects.
Experience & Education:A high school diploma or GED is required, with additional technical training, certifications, or coursework in facilities maintenance, construction trades, or a related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or general contracting, and coordinating contractors. This role requires a strong working knowledge of multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, and general mechanical systems.
The Lead Maintenance Technicianmust possess strong organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize work based on safety, urgency, and operational impact. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with leadership, program staff, inspectors, vendors, and contractors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and systems used for work orders, documentation, and reporting is required. A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to travel within the Western Region as needed are required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, required department documentation, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures, and governmental regulations as required. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Report facility issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs to facilities leadership in a timely manner. Needs to be able to communicate effectively through verbal and written mediums.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts as applicable.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standards may exist. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Proficient knowledge of Windows processing systems and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Valid driver’s license, clear DMV record, as well as acceptable background record.
