Merck in De Soto, Kansas is seeking a Lead Technician, Maintenance to install, maintain and repair critical equipment in a biologics/animal health facility. The role focuses on PMs, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, and CMMS documentation within a safety‑driven environment.
Candidates should have five years of industrial maintenance experience or a relevant two‑year technical degree with three years in maintenance, and be capable of reading electrical prints and P&ID loops.

The Lead Technician, Maintenance position is available at our Animal Health facility in De Soto, Kansas, located near Kansas City metropolitan area. The DeSoto facility is expanding operations to manufacturing vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals. Leveraging an experienced and innovative team environment, the key technologies at the site are biologics production using fermentation and cell culture platforms, filling and packaging. The incumbent will be required to perform work in one or more special craft areas, and the work detail is to install, maintain, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on new and existing facilities equipment, electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R and computerized building management systems. To repair equipment and recalibrate as needed. To perform general building maintenance, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair as needed. To perform 24 hour emergency repair on a rotational basis. Carries out industrial maintenance functions in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and prepares technical documentation. Participates in the establishment and improvement of new and existing process equipment. Primary focus will involve maintaining process equipment by developing/performing PM's, documenting work using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS - SAP) and other duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
