Job Description

The Lead Maintenance Technician position requires technical skills to design, evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, and install bakery equipment. Skills needed include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer controls. This team member maintains a distribution manufacturing facility, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of machinery related to bakery food processing, physical structures, and mechanical and electrical systems. They oversee and are responsible for training maintenance team members and may assign work in the absence of the Maintenance Leader. Safety awareness and understanding of working safely on mechanical and electrical equipment in a production environment are essential.

Shift Details

Sunday - Thursday, starting at 12 am

Salary: $38 - $41 DOE

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and install machinery and equipment (40%)
    • Monitor equipment for malfunctions
    • Discuss operation variations with team to diagnose and repair issues
    • Install and repair electrical devices (transformers, relays, circuit breakers, etc.)
    • Maintain pipe systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
    • Install, program, and troubleshoot automated machinery and PLCs
    • Maintain refrigeration and HVAC equipment
    • Service material handling equipment
    • Monitor electrical panels and troubleshoot as needed
    • Maintain boilers, water heaters, and water systems
  2. Follow preventive maintenance guidelines (20%)
    • Coordinate maintenance schedules
    • Perform maintenance and update logs
    • Assist in developing preventive maintenance plans
  3. Building maintenance (10%)
    • Repair minor structural problems and general repairs
  4. Ensure safety and compliance (20%)
    • Identify safety issues, document, and develop action plans
    • Monitor compliance with EPA, OSHA, and other guidelines
  5. Miscellaneous duties (10%)
    • Assist in project control and scheduling
    • Monitor inventory and order parts
    • Monitor energy usage and recommend improvements
Qualifications

Proactive, self-motivated individuals with the ability to evaluate and repair mechanical and electrical equipment. Core competencies include refrigeration, electrical systems, controls, and mechanical systems.

  • HS Diploma or technical training, 2+ years related experience, or licensed journeyman
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
Certificates and Licenses
  • EPA Refrigeration Certification (Type II or Universal)
  • Hazardous Materials Certification (Minnesota only)
Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, weather extremes, electrical hazards, and noise. Strong safety awareness is required.
