Job summary

UWM is seeking a Maintenance Technician Team Leader to oversee carpentry, electrical, plumbing and more across nearly 2 million square feet of commercial space on our Pontiac campus.

You will lead a skilled team, coordinate with Building Engineers, schedule routine maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance while delivering high-quality service. The role may require night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Commercial carpentry, electrical, and plumbing experience required.
• Construction leadership experience.
• Ability to supervise a maintenance team.
• Proficient with tools of the trade.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Demonstrates ethics and good morale.
• Effective written and verbal communication with team members, vendors and the public.
• Ability to make independent judgments within policy and procedures.
• Strong literacy, writing, documentation and interpersonal skills; proficient with computer-based programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Building Engineers on tasks across the building.
• Lead team in maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
• Prioritize workload and communicate timelines to stakeholders.
• Schedule and perform routine maintenance and identify needed work.
• Provide courteous service to team members and respond to requests.
• Assist vendors and visitors as needed.
• Prepare for emergencies in each building.
• Work Monday–Friday; may require nights, holidays and weekends.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed in all duties.
