FULL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for electrical and mechanical systems in the facility, which includes troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities, and recommendations for overall operational improvement and safety. This is a working lead position and requires working on machinery and the plant facility.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ability to Lead 1-2 maintenance mechanics within a manufacturing environment.
  • Provides emergency repairs of processing equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance on processing and packaging equipment.
  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines and facility maintenance.
  • Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as required.
  • Perform electrical connections, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Assist with minor to major repairs on forklifts, battery-powered equipment, and material-handling equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with lead or manager and other plant personnel to ensure a safe work environment and minimize downtime.

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma and general education degree (GED); with related experience in fish or food processing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess the ability to weld, make electrical connections, troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems, read schematics, and perform routine maintenance tasks. Basic computer skills are also required.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to move around the plant; stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Individual must be capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment: The work environment is a wet, plant environment, with machinery in operation and temperatures often exceeding a comfortable level without protective equipment. There is time worked beyond business hours due to seasonal fluctuations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Salary Range: $ 38-$42/hr
