Job summary

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Lead Mechanic to oversee installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment across the facility. You will guide daily Maintenance activities with the on-shift Operations Supervisor and ensure team members have the tooling and materials to complete work orders.

The ideal candidate has extensive industrial maintenance experience, proficiency with CMMS (Tabware), and hands-on skills in welding, hydraulics and pneumatics.

Qualifications

  • Lead Mechanic experience in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to perform maintenance per safety regulations.
  • Proficient with CMMS software (Tabware).
  • Welding and metal fabrication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and on-call.
  • Strong communication with supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee work-orders and requisitions; document information.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems; diagnose and repair.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, skid steers and other mobile equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in a safe, compliant manner.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Coordinate with shift supervision and maintenance teams.

Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is looking for a Lead Mechanic. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting and maintenance of mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. They will indirectly lead and prioritize Mechanical Maintenance daily activities working with the on-shift Operations Supervisor(s) and ensure Mechanics have necessary tooling and materials to complete Work Orders effectively. They will report all Mechanical Maintenance activities to direct Supervisor and facility management team effectively and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews and performs immediate oversight, ensuring work-orders and requisitions and documents all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis
  • Individual must demonstrate proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware)
  • Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime,
  • Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and ability to be on call
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs
  • Operate mobile equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment
  • Performs preventive and repair maintenance procedures safely, environmentally compliant, and professionally with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, and Company Work Rules, Policies and Procedures
  • Identify and repair potential safety hazards
  • Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication
  • Actively participate and support operations functions as necessary, including but not limited to internal equipment inspections, fire watch, cleaning of work area(s), etc.
  • Use various Machine shop equipment such as a bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, stationary grinder, parts washer, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge, skills and abilities required to properly identify and safely and effectively use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools on a routine basis while performing maintenance tasks
  • Travels to other facilities with-in the Company when technical support is required
  • Takes proactive measures to address improvement opportunitiesAssists in training other employees
  • Directs those assigned to assist in the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient completion of maintenance tasks
  • Assumes increased levels of responsibility when required or requested. Performs lesser skilled duties when required or requested
  • Complete the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed
  • Identifies and effectively uses basic and precision measuring tools to calculate and determine lengths, surface areas, and volumes as necessary while performing maintenance tasks on a routine basis
  • Follows standard safety and environmental procedures, correct safety, and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety and environmental rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Maintains and follows all Company environmental compliance, health and safety requirements, policies, procedures, and rules within
  • Completes all required Environmental Management System and Compliance Training
  • Works rotating shifts, if requested
  • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face
  • Anticipates typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment, diagnoses problems and repairs
  • Provide necessary expertise on equipment repairs and reference O&M Manuals to support the Mechanical Maintenance shop with specific work orders
  • Facility Subject Matter Expert (SME) with operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility or similar industry including but not limited to, chain & flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various style pumps
  • Proficient in welding practices and facility Subject Matter Expert (SME), including but not limited to; SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Brazing and Soldering processes
  • Proficient in operational knowledge of facility equipment and systems
Preferred Requirements
  • High School diploma (GED)
  • Tech Schooling Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the Industrial or Power Industry Maintenance Field, or a minimum of 2 years' experience as a 1st class Mechanic
  • Proficient with Microsoft Software; Excel, Word, Office, etc.
  • Ability to read and record measurements with precision
  • Proficient in welding, soldering, brazing, pipe fitting
  • Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
Certificates And Licenses
  • Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Climb and walk on heights often greater than 4 feet
  • Occasionally must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
