Job summary

Fresenius Kabi in Melrose Park, IL is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of plant utilities in an aseptic manufacturing facility. You will mentor technicians and ensure compliance with safety and cGMP requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 5 years in maintenance within regulated environments; strong troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and automation systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred; high school diploma with relevant experience accepted.
• Minimum 5 years of related maintenance and/or facilities work experience.
• Experience in a highly regulated industry preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair plant utilities, including clean rooms and facility systems.
• Provide guidance to Maintenance Mechanics and coordinate tasks with Sr. Manager, Maintenance.
• Conduct impact and risk assessments for equipment failures and implement improvements.
• Coordinate daily activities across departments and manage external contractors.
• Mentor and train maintenance staff; promote ownership, accountability and safety.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures to improve reliability and cGMP compliance.
• Communicate with other departments to minimize downtime during repairs.
• Support resource planning and safety program development.
