Job summary

Covia is seeking a dynamic Maintenance Lead for its Dividing Creek, NJ location. You will lead the maintenance crew in daily activities, including preventative and predictive maintenance, emergencies, and shutdowns.

You will report to the maintenance supervisor and direct the team in their absence. Ideal candidates will have maintenance experience with welding/fabrication, fluid power, and mechanical drives, with preference for mining operations experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance role with hands-on repair and troubleshooting.
• Welding and metal fabrication skills are required or strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with industrial fluid power and pumping systems.
• Technical training in computer systems, conveyors, or similar is a plus.
• Experience with preventive maintenance strategies is valued.
• Knowledge of mechanical drives and power transmission is a plus.
• Prior mining operations experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with MSHA CFR safety regulations and site procedures.
• Direct the maintenance crew in the absence of the supervisor and respond to work requests.
• Ensure work is performed safely and risks are managed appropriately.
• Contribute to risk management practices for the operation.
• Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks and improve equipment reliability.
• Maintain availability targets and coordinate with operations.

Covia is looking for a dynamic Maintenance Lead who will have a positive impact on the Maintenance Team at its Dividing Creek, NJ location. As a Maintenance Lead, you will lead the maintenance crew in the day-to-day maintenance activities, which include preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, emergency work orders and maintenance shutdowns. The incumbent will work under the direction of the maintenance supervisor to ensure daily maintenance activities are executed at a high level by the maintenance team members. In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Lead will assign work and direct the maintenance crew as necessary and respond to radio calls from operations as required.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

• Comply with applicable MSHA regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and procedures applying to the worker or person that are part of a safety and health management system for the mine
• Take any other reasonable and necessary course of action to ensure anyone is not exposed to an unacceptable level of risk
• Ensure, to the extent of the responsibilities and duties allocated to the worker or person, that the work and activities under the worker's control, supervision, or leadership is conducted in a way that does not expose the worker or person or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
• Direct the Maintenance Crew in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor. Responding to any work requests or calls from operations.
• To the extent of the worker's or person's involvement, to participate in and conform to the risk management practices of the operation
• Comply with instructions given for safety and health of persons by the mine operator or a supervisor at the operation
• Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors,
• Proactively manage equipment to ensure availability and reliability targets are met
• Assist in the planning maintenance tasks

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a maintenance role
• Competency in
  • welding and metal fabrication
  • industrial fluid power and pumping systems
• Preference given to technical training in computer systems, conveyors, or similar
• Preference given to candidates with competency in
  • preventative maintenance strategies
  • mechanical drives & power transmission
• Preference given to previous experience within mining operations
