Job summary

Vulcan Elements is a manufacturer of American rare-earth permanent magnets focused on security and resilience. The Machining Site Lead will supervise machining operations and a team of machinists, ensuring on-spec finishes from sintered material using wire saws, grinders, CNC, and EDM.

The role emphasizes safety, cost, and lead-time estimation in collaboration with coating and customer-facing teams. The ideal candidate combines hands-on precision machining with disciplined operations management

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
Hands-on experience operating precision machining or grinding operations.
Minimum 3 years of experience with CAD and CAM software.
Familiarity with G and M code and inspection tools.
Experience reading technical drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day machining operations to safely produce magnet shapes from sintered material.
Manage a team of machinists and operators; coordinate with coating and customer-facing teams.
Plan production runs across wire saws, grinders, CNC, and EDM to meet specs and lead times.
Develop SOPs, document processing parameters, and maintain safety practices.
