Job summary

University of Florida seeks an Engineer II to lead fabrication, prototyping, and technical execution within agricultural automation research. You will fabricate, assemble, and modify components using CNC mills, lathes, lasers, waterjets, 3D printers, and welding systems, interpreting drawings with faculty to develop prototypes for AI-enabled agriculture.

• High school diploma or equivalent with six years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area with two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Consults with investigators on design, fabricates, assembles, and modifies components and systems using advanced equipment (CNC, laser/waterjet, 3D printing, welding).
• Interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with faculty to develop research prototypes for agricultural automation and AI applications.
• Partner with faculty and research teams to support funded and exploratory projects in agricultural technology.
• Drive and position to oversee specialized research activities, ensuring safety and timely completion of tasks.
• Train, mentor, and oversee students in machining, fabrication techniques, and safe equipment use.
