Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Machinist for the central maintenance machine shop in Marion, NC. You will provide technical leadership, set up and operate CNC and manual milling and lathe equipment, and support maintenance and rebuild of production components.

The role requires 5 years machining experience or a 2-year Machinist degree; experience with HAAS, MATSUURA, Fadal, or Daewoo; strong blueprint reading; G-code knowledge; and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years machining experience or 2-year Machinist degree.
• Preferred HAAS, MATSUURA, FEDAL or DAEWOO equipment experience.
• Must be self-starter with limited supervision.
• Proficient in blueprint reading; GDT a plus.
• Experience G-Zero, MasterCam, and AutoCAD software.
• Must have CNC and manual machine shop experience.
• Read and write G code using G-Zero and Mastercam.
• Proficient with standard machinist hand tools and power tools.
• Able to design/build work holding fixtures for one-off parts.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work around moving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate North Cove machine shop equipment safely and efficiently.
• Machine parts within tolerances from blueprints using machine shop equipment.
• Fabricate parts for maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of production components.
• Stock machine shop parts to support equipment and processes.
• Use precision instruments to check accuracy and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining issues with tooling and materials.
• Maintain all shop equipment in good condition.
• Keep shop area clean and aligned with 6S program.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Provide on-the-job training for registered apprentices.
• Generate part programming with Cad Cam for CNC equipment.
