Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Software Vision Engineer in Poway, CA, to design, develop, test, and deploy machine vision software for automated manufacturing. You will leadImage processing algorithm development in C with OpenCV, and integrate cameras, lighting, and other vision hardware.

This hands-on role requires collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver production-ready vision solutions.

Qualifications

5+ years of machine vision or image processing experience.
5+ years of C software development experience.
Hands-on experience with OpenCV or similar libraries.
Proven experience integrating cameras, lighting, calibration tools and vision hardware.
Solid understanding of image processing techniques (edge detection, segmentation, pattern matching, object detection).
Experience delivering complete software applications for manufacturing/automation environments.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical ownership and lead projects and collaborate across teams.
Experience supporting manufacturing environments and production equipment.
Ability to mentor junior engineers (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy machine vision software for inspection, alignment, measurement, and defect detection in manufacturing environments.
Develop and optimize image processing and machine vision algorithms using C and OpenCV.
Integrate and validate cameras, lenses, lighting, lasers, and other vision hardware within automated equipment platforms.
Calibrate and fine-tune vision systems to achieve reliable production performance.
Troubleshoot and support deployed vision systems and drive continuous improvement.
Own technical delivery for vision projects from requirements to deployment.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration.
Mentor junior engineers and share best practices in vision and image processing.
Diagnose and fix vision-related issues in production equipment and implement enhancements.
Contribute to new product development and maintenance of existing systems.
Use Git for source control and collaborative development.
Participate in design reviews and system validation.
