Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care, leadership, and patient advocacy across home health settings in Pennsylvania. The role emphasizes adherence to standards, infection control, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires PA licensure, BLS, and strong clinical judgment to support maternal/child nursing services and direct supervision of Home Health Aides, with travel between system locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex topics to a wide and diverse audience.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED certification.
• Act 33 with renewal; Act 34 with renewal; Act 73 FBI Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops and reviewing publications.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to standards and measuring health outcomes against goals.
• Protect patients and employees by following infection-control policies and medication handling procedures.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Maintain continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions and needs using Nurse Knowledge Exchange techniques.
• Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.
• Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others involved in care.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
• Promote patient independence by teaching care goals and self-care skills.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Resolve patient problems by multidisciplinary team strategies.
• Collaborate with case managers and on-call RNs to ensure continuity of care.
• Supervise Home Health Aides providing care in patients’ homes.
• Provide prenatal nursing services and postpartum/newborn assessments.
