Job summary

A 3rd-shift Maintenance Technician leads a team of technicians to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on life-safety and critical building systems. Responsibilities include inspecting and testing eyewash/safety showers, floor sprinkler head inspections, and responding to flooding or plumbing emergencies.

The role works independently or as part of a skilled life-safety crew, performing testing, maintenance, repair, renovation and construction in line with campus standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in installation, maintenance or repair of air, water, gas or waste disposal systems.
• Valid Driver's License Class D.

Responsibilities

• 60% Plumbing Maintenance and Management: Unstops blockages in plumbing fixtures and drains; installs/maintains fixtures and water/vent pipes per code.
• 15% Back-flow devices Maintenance: Inspects/testing back-flow devices per DHEC/EPA; maintains certification; documents results in CMMS.
• 10% Campus Domestic/Process Water Systems: Tests/inspects/maintains campus water systems and steam systems; documents results in CMMS.
• 10% Fire Suppression System Maintenance: Inspects and maintains NFPA-compliant sprinkler systems; documents testing in CMMS.
• 5% Safety: Ensures safety, complies with OSHA and university safety standards and completes mandatory training.
