Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC, a Chicago-based engineering design firm, is seeking a Senior Structural Licensed Professional Engineer with a PE License in multiple jurisdictions or the ability to obtain them. The individual will function as Engineer of Record and oversee the technical execution of projects in various states.

Working with a team of engineers and designers, the primary focus will be on structural and geotechnical utility infrastructure designs to support HBK's rapidly expanding service

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on civil/structural/geotechnical.
• 10+ years’ experience in structural and/or geotechnical engineering.
• Professional Engineering Licensure.
• NCEES Records account or ability to obtain one.
• Licensed Professional Structural Engineer or the ability to obtain one via reciprocity.
• Knowledge of design codes including AISC, ASCE, UBC and IBC.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with leading teams.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Consulting background preferred
• Proficient in MS Office products
• Knowledge of Deltek system

Responsibilities

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve engineering issues.
• Prepare memos, reports, construction specifications, and other documentation.
• Read and interpret drawings, calculations, schematics, and reports.
• Apply engineering theories to structural and geotechnical designs.
• Lead projects involving wood, masonry, steel and concrete structures.
• Coordinate building foundations and earth retention work.
• Conduct structural investigations and field inspections.
• Perform engineer-of-record responsibilities and stamping as required.
