Job summary

StandardAero in Springfield, IL is seeking a Lead Licensed Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and major inspections on corporate aircraft, including troubleshooting, repairs, and engine work.

The role requires an FAA A&P license and at least 5 years of experience in corporate aviation. You will lead technicians, train peers, and ensure safety and quality in all tasks while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

As the Lead Licensed Mechanic, you will perform routine maintenance and major inspections on corporate aircraft, to include troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines.

• Perform engine removal and reinstallation, operational checks, leak checks, and engine runs.
• Coordinate and delegate assignments to technicians assigned to the aircraft or engine and provide technical guidance to those technicians.
• Serve in lieu of the Crew Chief during his/her absences and may serve as a Delegated Inspector.
• Use sound judgment and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence and techniques, troubleshooting, and discrepancy resolution.
• Be technically competent on assigned aircraft/engines and expected to accomplish all duties with little or no supervision.
• Lead projects, coach, and oversee the activities of the A&P Mechanic III and IV, providing guidance and instruction on proper mechanical procedures and techniques.
• Make sound decisions and take expedient action to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a professional appearance and communication skills to create positive relationships with customers.
• Ensure proper placement and protection of aircraft or engine upon arrival, conduct incoming inspections, and coordinate work with other departments as required.
• Review Customer Request for Service Forms with the Crew Chief to determine the scope of work and any special maintenance requirements.
• Maintain and service aircraft or engines, analyzing technical problems, interpreting manuals, and testing repairs.
• Help crew members improve their skills, build trust, and promote teamwork.
• Keep the Crew Chief informed of job progress and any unusual findings.
• Finalize paperwork and prepare "Release of Aircraft" forms on assigned aircraft.
• Perform inspection duties if delegated as an Inspector.
• Work fair share of overtime and travel on road trips as required to handle technical problems.
• Know, understand, follow, promote, and continuously improve company policies and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as an A&P Mechanic in corporate aviation.
• Ability to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
• Technical competency on assigned aircraft/engine(s).
• Ability to hear to detect sources of problems.
• Analytical skills required to perform complex mechanical troubleshooting.
• History of demonstrating high levels of initiative and teamwork.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Sufficient leadership skills to supervise others and train less experienced mechanics.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders.
• Excellent hand-to-eye coordination.

Preferred Characteristics

• Aviation training, such as military training, aeronautical academy, technical school training, or an Aviation associate's degree.
• Experience with Hawker, Falcon, Gulfstream, and/or Bombardier.
• Engine run certification.

Salary

$37.62-56.42 hourly, based on experience. The compensation package for this position also includes a performance-based cash and equity incentives. Actual pay will be determined based on the selected candidate's skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
