Job summary

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing and packaging aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
  • Configuration control experience from early trade studies through final design, manufacturing, and test.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools.
  • Good judgment, flexibility, and results-driven approach.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures development and integration.
  • Preferred: Experience with payload fairing design, payload adapter development, or orbital launch vehicle payload integration.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with payload user guides, coupled loads analyses, and separation system requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience managing payload-specific interface control documents and coordinating with external payload customers.
  • Preferred: Experience using PTC Creo, DOORS, and Windchill.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques.
  • Preferred: Ability to interpret and apply high-level system requirements to practical design solutions.
  • Current secret clearance or ability to obtain needed clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugee or asylee
  • Background check required

Responsibilities

  • Create and release New Glenn Integrated Launch Vehicle engineering drawings and models supporting mission objectives
  • Create and maintain interface control drawings and models between major New Glenn elements, including payload fairings, payload adapters, and customer payload interfaces
  • Define and manage payload accommodation environments, including dynamic envelopes, access provisions, separation system interfaces, and service connections
  • Support payload-specific mission integration from early mission planning through launch readiness
  • Lead physical integration and packaging of structural, mechanical, fluids, and avionics subsystems
  • Create and manage interface definitions between vehicle subsystems and potential payloads
  • Coordinate configuration reviews addressing interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly, and operations
  • Collaborate with development teams, payload customers, and mission-specific integration teams
  • Create streamlined processes and linked datasets to improve design engineering processes and operationalize the System Design organization
