Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Texas is seeking an experienced Fluids/Mechanical engineer to design, build, and operate fluid systems for a global launch portfolio. You will lead cross-functional teams and drive robust gas, cryogenic, and propellant handling systems from concept through operation.

Responsibilities include commissioning ground systems, leading troubleshooting, and developing maintenance strategies to maximize launch readiness. Strong collaboration with partners and regulators is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• Experience designing, building, and operating complex fluid systems.
• Experience with P&ID interpretation and hazard analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and activate fluid systems across global launch sites.
• Lead design reviews with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Commission ground systems and lead pad operations.
• Troubleshoot issues and support anomaly investigations.
• Develop launch-day procedures and automation for countdown ops.
• Create maintenance strategies to maximize system availability.
• Collaborate with customers and regulators for compliance.
• Mentor early career Fluids/Mechanical GSE teammates.
