Job summary

Southern Landscape Group, Inc. is seeking a Landscape Care Team Leader in Central Virginia. The role directs a two-person crew on landscape design/build and maintenance projects, operating various equipment and applying horticultural knowledge.

The position runs Monday through Friday with potential weekends/overtime, and requires a valid VA driver’s license and related certifications. The team leader will plan daily tasks, read landscape plans, apply pesticides with proper PPE, and ensure

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; two years in green industry preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management.
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Customer service mindset and ability to communicate with clients and professionals.
Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking workers using translation tools.
Responsible for training a two-person team to develop skills and ensure training.

Responsibilities

Reviewing job notes to understand scope of work.
Plan daily tasks, labor, and equipment for current and next day’s work.
Read, measure, and interpret landscape plans.
Lead team members in landscape services: bed maintenance, pruning, plant health, irrigation, water features, lighting, floral care, spring clean-ups.
Ensure safety, maintain equipment and truck/tools, and manage daily check-ins with Group Leader.
Maintain a clean, safe job site and ensure tools are returned and maintained.
