Qualifications

• Reads and interprets detailed engineering drawings to produce parts.
• Constructs and machines parts for models and projects.
• Orders equipment and maintains inventory.
• Welding and soldering on projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Reads and works from detailed engineering drawings to produce parts and assemblies.
• Constructs and machines parts to make working models for graduate students and research projects.
• Devises necessary fixtures, jigs and gauges to produce parts.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repair of equipment in machine shop.
• Does welding and soldering on projects as needed.
• Orders equipment and supplies for the machine shop; maintains inventory.
• Assists faculty and students in designing and documenting shop work.
• Reviews final designs for completeness, material choice, and special requirements.
• May lead or supervise lab machinists and/or other laboratory personnel.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
