Lead Lab Assistant - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assistant will draw blood, collect specimens, and run EKG's on patients, process those specimens including accessioning in the LIS. They will also organize, check off and deliver laboratory reports, file reports and requisitions, restock and clean as needed all areas of the laboratory, answer the phone and front window, and perform other duties as needed. By performing those functions in the laboratory; help to maintain a smooth workflow for the laboratory technologists. Support and help supervise Lab Assistants and the Lab Clerk in collaboration with the Lab Assistant Supervisor, Lead CLS, and/or Technologist on duty. Report to the Lab Director. Job responsibilities and performance of procedures are to comply with Section 652.450 of the Nevada Administrative Code, Bureau of Licensure and Certification, Nevada State Division of Health. Employees must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Laboratory Assistant, State of Nevada.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Licensure:

• Licensed or eligible for licensure (must obtain within 30 days of hire) as a Lab Assistant with Nevada Division of Public Health.

Certification Required:

• American Heart Association BLS required
• Minimum of 5 years’ full time experience working as Laboratory Assistant/phlebotomist.
• Previous medical terminology and computer/data entry experience highly preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail required.
• Previous experience working in a hospital or customer service setting highly preferred.
