Description

Taunton State Hospital is seeking a Lead Kitchen Services Worker II. The successful candidate will supervise dietary workers (KSW I titles), oversee and participate in the meal service, and ensure sanitary standards and practices are maintained by cleaning and washing equipment in work area.

Please Note : This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work on the day shift from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The days off are Monday and Tuesday.

Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Exercises direct supervision and assigns work to dietary workers (KSW I) in meal service and in cleaning tasks on a meal-by-meal basis daily.
  • Inspects kitchen and dining room for cleanliness and adherence to state sanitary codes usingcheck lists.
  • Trains dietary workersand providesinstruction on the protocols of the dietary department.
  • Supervises meal service to ensure correct diets are served and that there is proper portioning according to the menu daily.
  • Takes direction from cook in charge in food related issues and relays information to subordinate staff.
  • Serves food and keeps serving counters supplied with food and beverages on a meal-by-mealbasis daily.
  • Helps with catering when assigned and fills out food requisitions for the units.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have one year of Dietary Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.


About Taunton State Hospital:

Taunton State Hospital (TSH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is a 62-bed inpatient facility that provides continuing care inpatient services to adults with major mental illnesses. The hospital is a leader in the successful integration of the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy into the treatment model and a part of the Southeast Area which works closely with the inpatient treatment teams to facilitate patients’ discharge back to the community.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in food services or institutional food service work.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
