Job summary

Friends School of Baltimore is seeking an Extended Day Counselor to oversee after-school activities and provide leadership for assigned grade blocks. You will be the on-site contact and guide other staff in your grades, while running an independent study block and an indoor lesson.

Hours are 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday on school days. The role involves supervising outdoors, ensuring safety, and maintaining a positive, professional environment for students in grades K–8.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Desire to work with / teach students in grades K - 8; Child Care or Youth Camp experience a plus.
• Grooming and appearance: maintain a neat and professional image at all times.
• Problem solving skills, capable of handling multiple tasks while maintaining composure.
• Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, resourceful.
• Able to work independently without constant supervision.
• Understanding of students' needs and ability to handle conflicts per school procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations for assigned grades in the Extended Day program.
• Be the on-site point of contact for assigned grades.
• Provide guidance for other staff assigned to their grades.
• Lead an independent study block and Indoor Lesson.
• Supervise an outdoor playground/recreation block.
