Job summary

JPMorganChase in Newark, DE seeks a Lead Software Engineer-Java/Spring Boot to join the Post-Trade Technology team. You will be a core technical contributor, delivering trusted, secure, scalable market-leading software across multiple business functions within an agile environment.

You will drive AI-assisted engineering practices, oversee secure coding and automated testing, and collaborate with vendor and internal teams to design robust architectures and reliable production systems.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s), including Java.
• Hands-on experience building microservices with Spring Boot, including REST APIs with JSON, dependency injection, configuration management, and actuator-based monitoring.
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, and MySQL.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI/ML, mobile).
• Experience leading the use of AI-assisted software development tools with safe adoption.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Develops secure and high-quality production code and reviews code written by others.
• Drives team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools and automation to improve value.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation and improve operational stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams on architectural designs.
