Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, testing and optimization of FX Pricing and Rate Distribution systems within our Global Capital Markets Technology division. This role requires deep expertise in foreign exchange markets, electronic trading and real time pricing systems to ensure low-latency, high-performance, and scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will lead technical initiatives, collaborate with FX business, quants, and product managers, and contribute to the evolution of our FX technology stack.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and enhancements for low latency FX pricing engines and rates distribution systems.
  • Optimize system performance, ensuring real time price dissemination with minimal latency.
  • Development of modern microservice architecture, event-driven systems, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high coding standards through code reviews, automation, and best practices in software engineering.
  • Architect scalable and fault-tolerant systems for price distribution.
  • Implement advanced caching strategies and distributed systems techniques to enhance system efficiency.
  • Integrate with external liquidity venues and ECNs for best price aggregation.
  • Enhance observability and monitoring with real time analytics, logging and proactive alerting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience

Technology Experience Should Include

  • 8+ years deep Java expertise [writing, tuning, configuration driven]
  • 1-2 years’ experience with cloud-based solutions
  • Deep experience with Messaging [JMS or native]
  • Experience with Relational Databases [Postgres or Oracle preferred]
  • Understanding of Spring, Gradle and Docker
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Business Experience Should Include

  • Capital Markets or Foreign Exchange experience
  • Strong understanding of FX instruments (spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs) or other asset classes within Capital Markets
    • Understanding of FX pricing, e-trading, trade capture or risk systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with HTML5 and Angular or React JavaScript libraries
  • Experience with electronic trading platforms, FIX protocol, and order management systems (OMS/EMS).
  • Experience working with quantitative teams to integrate pricing models
  • Understanding of market microstructure and algorithmic trading strategies.
  • Background in machine learning and data analytics for FX market insights.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (MiFID, Dodd-Frank, Basel III) impacting FX trading.

***The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.***
