The Core Online team is responsible for building and supporting global enterprise platforms that operate across multiple countries and cloud environments. This role reports to Senior Manager of Application Development.
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Design, develop, and support large-scale Java-based enterprise applications and global platforms. Lead the architecture and implementation of cloud-native, microservices-based solutions using modern engineering practices. Build high-volume, low-latency applications capable of meeting stringent availability and performance objectives. Design and develop REST APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems that support global business operations. Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive engineering best practices across the team. Implement CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, and software quality practices throughout the development lifecycle. Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, observability, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Apply security best practices, secure coding standards, and data protection controls for highly regulated and sensitive data environments. Utilize AI-assisted development tools and integrate AI-powered capabilities where appropriate to improve engineering productivity and solutions.
6+ years of hands‑on experience developing enterprise applications using Java and modern software engineering practices. Strong experience designing and developing distributed systems, microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and event-driven applications. Experience building cloud‑native applications and deploying solutions on cloud platforms, with GCP preferred. Experience supporting mission-critical production systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading incident resolution efforts. Experience working with highly regulated data and implementing security controls, including authentication, encryption, authorization, and OWASP best practices.
Java and Spring ecosystem expertise including Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, and Spring Data. Cloud platforms and container technologies including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and containerized deployments. CI/CD and development tools including Maven, Git, SonarQube, deployment automation, and testing frameworks. Automated testing tools and frameworks including JUnit, TestNG, WireMock, and TestContainers. Monitoring, observability, logging, tracing, alerting, and performance tuning tools used in large-scale production environments.
We’re also looking for the preferred skills below. Whether you are proficient or could use some brushing up, we’re happy to support your career development and growth in: Experience integrating AI/LLM solutions, RAG architectures, AI agents, or AI-powered automation capabilities. Experience with Google Cloud Spanner or other globally distributed databases. Experience designing multi-region and multi-cloud architectures. Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and operational readiness practices. Architecture, Cloud, Kubernetes, Security, or SRE certifications.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $150,000 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job‑related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
