Job summary

Compass Group USA, ESFM division, is hiring a Lead Janitor in Markham, IL to oversee training for custodial staff. The role requires previous janitorial experience and involves coaching on cleaning methods, safety and equipment use, along with administrative training tasks.

As part of ESFM’s workforce, you will contribute to a safe, healthy workplace while supporting ongoing training programs and compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial experience is required.
• Ability to conduct training and oversee training activities.
• Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA policies is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom and hands-on training on cleaning methods, safety, and company policies.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and monitor trainee progress.
• Update training materials and manage administrative training tasks.
• Perform periodic inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Offer feedback to new associates during orientation and track records for compliance.
• Assist training coordinator with disciplinary or performance recommendations as needed.
• Conduct periodic safety performance reviews and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal requirements.
• Support other training duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Summary: Performs administrative tasks, trains team members and oversees overall training activities for custodial associates. Acts as a resource for others due to knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and heavy commercial cleaning equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts classroom and hands-on training on customer service, safety, compliance and company policies.
• Conducts one-on-one training as needed.
• Updates and provides training on use of janitorial equipment, PPE and chemical usage/safety.
• Copies training material and revises material as needed; conducts administrative tasks as requested.
• Provides feedback on new associates during orientation period; reviews trainee records to ensure successful compliance.
• Provides recommendations to training coordinator for disciplinary action as appropriate.
• Performs reviews, i.e., monthly safety performance review, in order to ensure compliance with OSHA, Risk Management and other applicable company/federal/state/local requirements and policies.
• Performs walk-through building inspections as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
