Job summary

The Lead IV Technician role at Polaris Pharmacy Services in Tampa oversees the preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications, ensuring compliance with all standards while guiding the IV team toward efficient workflows and top-tier patient care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician license/certifications required by state regulations.
  • Minimum of one year working as an IV pharmacy technician.
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
  • Experience with medications, IVs, and filling prescriptions.
  • Order entry and insurance billing experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the IV pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of IV medications.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations and guidelines.
  • Oversee the proper storage, handling, and disposal of IV medications and related supplies.
  • Train and mentor IV technicians, providing ongoing education and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain accurate records of all IV medication preparations and transactions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and safety.
  • Participate in inventory management, including ordering and restocking IV supplies as needed.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to IV medication preparation or delivery.

Job Summary

The Lead IV Technician at Polaris Pharmacy Services is responsible for overseeing the preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications. This role ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations while maintaining high-quality service and safety protocols. The Lead IV Technician will also provide leadership and guidance to the IV team, ensuring efficient workflow and exceptional patient care.

Duties/Responsibilities

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice
  • Minimum of one (1) year working as an IV pharmacy technician required (long-term care pharmacy preferred)
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Experience working with medications, IV’s, and filling prescriptions required
  • Order entry and insurance billing experience required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY
  • Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
  • Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
  • Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
