Job description

Founded in 2018, Quince was built to challenge the idea that nice things have to cost a lot. Our mission is simple: to make very high‑quality essentials for very low prices, produced fairly and sustainably. Quince is a direct‑to‑consumer model that cuts out middlemen and leverages just‑in‑time manufacturing to minimize waste and maximize value.

THE ROLE
Lead IT Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead IT Engineer based in Palo Alto/San Francisco to join our growing technology operations team. This role will lead and support Quince’s North America office expansion and technology infrastructure initiatives, ensuring seamless day‑to‑day support and employee experience. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail‑oriented, highly adaptable, and passionate about delivering exceptional internal support experiences.

As Quince continues to expand its North America footprint, this individual will play a critical role in supporting office growth, onboarding/offboarding processes, and operational readiness across our Palo Alto and San Francisco offices. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, vendor coordination, contract management, office infrastructure planning, and hands‑on IT support. The role requires onsite presence in our Palo Alto office three days a week and occasional travel to our downtown San Francisco office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead office technology planning and deployment efforts for new and expanding office spaces, including Wi‑Fi design, structured cabling, conference room technology, and AV systems.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT perspective — account setup, hardware configuration, access provisioning, and device recovery.
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and decommissioning of laptops and peripherals.
  • Set up, support, and maintain video conferencing systems (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) to ensure high‑quality meeting experiences across office locations.
  • Partner with office operations, vendors, contractors, and service providers to support office buildouts, infrastructure upgrades, and ongoing operational needs.
  • Handle user access provisioning and de‑provisioning across core business systems (Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, etc.).
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to employees onsite and remotely, resolving hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues.
  • Support office technology operations, including Wi‑Fi troubleshooting, printer setup, conference room support, and AV maintenance.
  • Maintain and document IT processes, inventory records, office infrastructure documentation, and access control logs in line with company standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the global IT and security teams to implement operational best practices and support data protection initiatives.
  • Support contract and vendor management activities related to office technology services, infrastructure, and support operations.
  • Participate in business‑hours on‑call support rotations and respond to urgent operational issues as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, including process optimization, office technology enhancements, and automation opportunities.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 6+ years of IT support, infrastructure, or workplace technology experience.
  • Prior experience supporting office expansions, relocations, or workplace infrastructure buildouts.
  • Experience with macOS and Windows operating systems, Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, and identity/access management administration.
  • Experience supporting and deploying video conferencing systems, specifically Zoom and Google Meet.
  • Familiarity with asset management tools and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Zendesk, ServiceNow).
  • Hands‑on experience or working knowledge of MDM tools like Jamf and JumpCloud.
  • Strong understanding of office networking concepts including Wi‑Fi deployments, VPNs, switches, structured cabling, and firewalls.
  • Hybrid role with onsite presence expected three days per week minimum in either the Palo Alto or San Francisco office.
  • Flexibility to travel between Bay Area office locations as needed to support business operations, team collaboration, and office expansion initiatives.
Preferred:
  • Experience working in high‑growth startup or fast‑paced corporate environments supporting distributed teams.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple support requests simultaneously.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong documentation habits.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across global teams.
  • Awareness of data security and compliance standards (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).

All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.

Pay Range: $175,000 USD – $250,000 USD
