Job description

The Lead Inventory Technician is a hospital‑based role responsible for supporting the Operating Room with daily procurement and replenishment of supplies. The position ensures that supplies are in the right quantity, in the right place, and at the right time, providing high quality service and wise working practices. The technician provides customer service to internal and external customers‑including surgeons, staff, and vendors.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 2‑3 years of experience in supply chain
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Operating room or procedural area supply experience preferred
  • High school diploma required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to provide leadership and work with the OR Materials Manager, OR Leadership team, and OR staff to ensure proper procurement of surgical supplies, prioritizing supply needs
  • Customer service skills with an understanding of sensitive and sometimes stressful environments
  • Skill in training material aids with supply ordering and receiving, motivating and delegating as necessary
  • Problem‑solving skills, with willingness to seek assistance from leadership when needed
  • Experience with Infor, Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and other technologies to support the OR supply chain mission
  • Interpersonal skills focused on effective communicating promptly and clearly with supply chain team members, OR leadership, and vendors
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and familiarity with preference cards to support proper stock replenishment
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to facilitate interactions with various members of the supply chain team, OR leadership, and vendors
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Range: $19.72 – $29.30. This range is an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. The actual base pay considers education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements. Boston Medical Center also offers a comprehensive total compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy benefits, contract increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, a 403(b) savings match, earned time cash‑out, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family well‑being.
