Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Lead Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist for our Plainview, NY location. The role leads and guides technologists in invasive procedures, prepares the unit for cardiac catheterization, and ensures safety and quality during imaging.

Part-time evenings with shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM; on-call nights and holidays may be required. Requires NYS Radiologic Technologist license, ARRT, BCLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years in invasive cardiovascular work.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology and current NYS Radiologic Technologist License, required.

Job Description

Varied days to work; Varied hours as early as 6:00am and as late as 9:30am. Shift can end as early as 4:00 pm and as late as 7:30 pm. Includes On Call Nights, Weekends, and Holidays

Leads and guides Invasive Cardiovascular Technologists in the performance of duties. Performs all functions of an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist.

Job Responsibility

• 1.Leads and guides Invasive Cardiovascular Technologists in the performance of duties.
• Participates in orientation and ongoing training of staff.
• Assists in prioritizing and assigning work based on workflow fluctuations.
• Handles and/or acts as a resource for difficult or complex imaging issues.
• Maintains related department supply and equipment inventory.
• 2.Performs all functions of an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist.
• Performs a variety of duties to prepare unit for cardiac catheterization or other invasive as well as non-invasive procedures.
• Prepares patient for invasive diagnostic procedures.
• Monitors patient during procedure, i.e., electrocardiogram, blood pressure, chest pain. May administer oxygen and nitroglycerin, as needed, under direct supervision of physician performing procedure.
• Collects all pertinent diagnostic data and all necessary calculations for physician’s interpretation of results. Balances, calibrates and records appropriate hemodynamic data. Performs blood gas determinations using oximeter method while handling blood in safe and appropriate manner.
• Intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies effectively. Assists in emergencies until physician takes over.
• Performs laboratory test procedures within established criteria.
• Operates all cardiac equipment properly in a reliable manner, per departmental standards, complying with all safety guidelines/policies.
• Performs various x-ray exams, if qualified as a licensed Radiology Technologist, as required.
• 3.Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology AND current NYS Radiologic Technologist License, required. NYS Radiology License (RADT) and CER- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required BCLS and ACLS, required. Minimum of two (2) years invasive cardiovascular experience, required.
