Job summary

The University of Minnesota Law Library seeks a proactive librarian to lead the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery team. This full-time, on-site role directs ILL borrowing and lending operations for the Law School and external institutions, supervising 1–2 student assistants.

The ideal candidate will bring an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, strong ILL experience, and a demonstrated commitment to service, scholarly activity, and collaboration across campus.

Qualifications

• MLS from an ALA-accredited library program.
• Minimum two years of access services or ILL/document delivery in academic or legal library.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ILL/document delivery developments.
• Strong service philosophy.
• Ability to balance multiple requests and prioritize workload.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong online search skills and ability to verify/locate difficult materials.
• Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively.
• Experience compiling statistics with Excel/Sheets.
• Potential for scholarly productivity and professional involvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Library's ASAP service for high-volume delivery to Law School faculty.
• Resolve complex borrowing and document delivery requests.
• Locate, request, and supply materials from law library, campus libraries, and outside institutions.
• Oversee lending and borrowing operations and intercampus services.
• Use OCLC ILL, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and research databases for retrieval and delivery.
• Ensure licensing and copyright compliance for ILL and delivery.
• Analyze retrieval and delivery statistics to guide improvements.
• Evaluate trends and implement new technologies and procedures.
• Supervise student assistants and monitor department budget.
• Collaborate with Law Library departments and represent the library externally.
