Job summary

The Boeing Company in North Charleston, SC, is seeking a Lead Interiors Payloads Support Engineer (Level 5) to provide M&P engineering support for the 787 program and Interiors Responsibility Center. This role requires leadership across composites, metals, finishes, fasteners, and related processes within the Interiors domain.

You will lead teams, define strategies, review drawings, and qualify new materials and tools, while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
• 5+ years of experience leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of experience with composites, metals, finishes, or fasteners.
• 10+ years of experience supporting the production system.
• 10+ years experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
• 10+ years experience interpreting engineering drawings and/or specifications.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking a Lead Interiors Payloads Support Engineer (Level 5) to provide M&P engineering support to the 787 Program and Interiors Responsibility Center in South Carolina (IRCSC), located in North Charleston/Ladson, South Carolina.

This role requires knowledge of Interiors materials and processes used in aerospace. These technologies include: composites, thermoplastics, thermosets, metals, fasteners, adhesives, sealants, organic and inorganic finishes, and corrosion principles. Candidates with engineering leadership experience in composites, finishes, metals, or fasteners are especially encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead others, establish work statement, define strategies and provide consultation with peers
• Support design engineering in material and process definition and selection of our Interiors components and flight deck structures
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with material and process requirements and objectives
• Understand engineering requirements and specifications to support material and process design consultation, production support, and fleet support
• Communicate with technical and non-technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
• Develop tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
• Perform activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Integrate new materials and processes as appropriate
• Conduct and coordinate complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
• Implement corrective and preventive actions
• Leads projects to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
• Incorporate environmental health and safety, Lean and Quality principles into materials and processes, research, design and qualification, and procedures
• Represents the Company on technical committees to develop and revise industry standards
• Leads evaluation & integration of emerging technologies
• Possess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality

This position may require up to 10-15% travel.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
• 5+ years of experience leading an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience with composites, metals, finishes, or fasteners
• 10+ years of experience supporting the production system
• 10+ years experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment
• 10+ years experience interpreting engineering drawings and/or specifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 10+ years of experience with safety and quality processes
• 10+ years of experience in materials and processes engineering
• Aerospace engineering experience

Summary pay range: $164,900 - $223,100
