Job summary

Green Home Solutions of Southern Maine is seeking a Lead Insulation Installer to oversee and perform residential insulation projects, primarily in attics, basements, and crawlspaces. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with blown-in insulation, fiberglass and mineral wool batt insulation, and proper installation techniques.

You will lead technicians, ensure installations meet quality standards and building codes, and take ownership of projects from prep to completion.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform residential insulation installations in attics, basements, and crawlspaces.
• Install blown-in fiberglass and cellulose insulation, fiberglass batts, and mineral wool insulation.
• Oversee removal and replacement of existing insulation.
• Perform attic air sealing and seal penetrations and gaps.
• Evaluate existing insulation and identify improvement areas.
• Understand insulation R-values and proper installation depths.
• Identify moisture/ventilation concerns and report to management.
• Operate insulation blowing machines and removal vacuums.
• Lead and train crew members, maintaining productivity and quality.
• Coordinate jobsite prep, material needs, and cleanup.
• Maintain safe working conditions per OSHA.

Position Overview

The Lead Insulation Installer will be responsible for overseeing and performing residential insulation projects, primarily in attics, basements, and crawlspaces.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with blown-in insulation, fiberglass and mineral wool batt insulation, insulation removal, air sealing, and proper installation techniques.

We're looking for someone who can take ownership of projects, lead technicians, and ensure installations meet company quality standards and applicable building codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform residential insulation installations in attics, basements, and crawlspaces.
• Install blown-in fiberglass and cellulose insulation, fiberglass batts, and mineral wool insulation.
• Oversee the removal and replacement of existing insulation.
• Perform attic air sealing, including sealing penetrations, gaps, and other sources of air leakage.
• Evaluate existing insulation conditions and identify areas requiring improvements.
• Understand insulation R-values, proper installation depths, ventilation requirements, and applicable building codes.
• Identify potential moisture, ventilation, and condensation concerns and communicate findings to management.
• Operate and maintain insulation blowing machines, insulation removal vacuums, and other specialized equipment.
• Lead and train crew members while maintaining productivity and quality workmanship.
• Coordinate jobsite preparation, material requirements, equipment setup, and cleanup.
• Maintain safe working conditions and follow applicable OSHA safety practices.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners and management regarding project progress.

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous hands-on experience installing residential insulation.
• Experience with blown-in insulation and batt insulation installation.
• Knowledge of attic insulation, air sealing, ventilation, and R-value requirements.
• Ability to independently lead projects and supervise other technicians.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, basements, and crawlspaces.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials and equipment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and professional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating commercial insulation blowing machines and insulation removal vacuums.
• Experience with attic insulation removal and replacement.
• Knowledge of building science, moisture management, and energy efficiency.
• BPI certification or other relevant building performance credentials.
• Familiarity with Efficiency Maine insulation program requirements.
• Experience with crew leadership, project planning, and material estimating.
• Experience with basement and crawlspace insulation systems.
