Family Focus is seeking a Lead Instructor (Part-time) at Lawndale - DePriest Elementary School in Chicago. The role supports the Community School program, with 29 hours per week scheduled Monday through Friday, 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

The position is non-exempt and pays $22 per hour. Responsibilities include assisting in developing and delivering enrichment activities, supporting instruction in math, literacy, and science, and maintaining safety and positive, culturally relevant learning

Job Title: Lead Instructor (Part-time)

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist Lead Instructor in the development and instruction of the Community School enrichment activities
• Activities must be interactive, creative, and combine different learning approaches.
• Maintain effective communication with the Lead Instructor and the Resource Coordinator.
• Assist and participate in the Community School program activities at assigned site.
• Assist in the instruction of academic activities in the content areas of math, literacy, and science.
• Assist in the instruction of enrichment activities that include aspects of teambuilding, cooperative learning, social emotional development, and leadership development that is culturally relevant and affirming.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of the program’s participants through a strength-based approach.
• Serve as a member of the Community School program team by participating in weekly staff meetings and professional development trainings during non-program hours.
• Carry out additional job-related duties as may be directed by immediate supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.

• Ability to assist in resolving challenging situations productively and without personalization.
• Ability to manage time and classroom.
• Available Monday – Friday (contingent on programming schedule)
• Must be available to work in the afternoon, some mornings, and weekends shifts.

Availability: Monday – Friday 29 hours per week 11:30 AM – 5:30 PM

This is a part-time non-exempt position.
