Job description

We are seeking a Lead Instructional Designer to support a large-scale training initiative tied to a critical internal transition. This role will serve as both a senior instructional designer and a team lead, guiding three other designers while developing learning solutions to prepare employees for major organizational changes. This is a high-visibility role requiring strategic thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both instructional teams and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop blended learning solutions (eLearning and ILT) to support a multi-phase change initiative.
  • Lead and mentor two instructional designers, serving as the primary point of contact for the ID team.
  • Attend cross-functional project meetings and translate updates into actionable direction for the training team.
  • Manage task prioritization, delegate responsibilities, and drive accountability among team members and SMEs.
  • Conduct needs analysis and collaborate with SMEs to gather and synthesize content.
  • Ensure alignment with adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, and overall project objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between the instructional team and senior-level project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in instructional design, with demonstrated success leading complex training initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and blended learning development.
  • Experience managing or guiding instructional designers or cross-functional training teams.
  • Project coordination experience required (PM certification not necessary).
  • Exposure to change management strategies and organizational communication best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360, SnagIt, and Photoshop.
  • Experience in health insurance or healthcare industries is a plus but not required.

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Through December 2025

Hours: 40 hours/week, 8am–5pm PT with some flexibility

Location: 100% Virtual

The pay range is $60 to $65 per hour W2. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
