Job summary

Diversified in the New York City metropolitan area is seeking an AV Installation Technician to support shop fabrication and occasional on-site work on client projects. You’ll interpret drawings, prepare racks, label cables, and terminate wiring for Broadcast, Network and A/V systems.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of AV experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and proficiency with MS Office. A valid driver’s license is required, and CTS-1 is a plus for career advancement.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of related AV industry experience is required.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of audio, video and networking equipment.
  • Basic carpentry and/or installation skills.
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints & engineering drawings.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Current proficiency with the MS Office suite: Outlook, Teams, SharePoint & Excel.
  • AVIXA CTS-1 preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and adhere to our insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations.
  • Accurately cut cables for bench fabrication to assigned lengths and label appropriately.
  • Prepare and label cables for fabrication using manual or automated striping machines.
  • Execute and test cable terminations for Broadcast, Network and A/V connectors.
  • Read and understand cable wirelists, project drawings and documentation.
  • Prepare racks for shipment, staging, and installation.
  • Mount equipment into racks and terminate wiring per technical drawings.
  • Read functional design drawings and equipment rack diagrams.
  • Maintain an organized shop and jobsite environment and track time on projects.

How You’ll Contribute:

The AV Installation Technician is a position responsible for performing a wide variety ofinstallation duties on technology projects primarily in our shop build environments. Thisposition is primarily a shop position preparing for the actual work that gets done in ourclients’ buildings. Some onsite work may be required on occasion. They need to coordinatewith project management, and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. Theyinterpret our drawing packages to create portions of the finished systems. This shop work caninclude any related AV technology and cabling.

What You’ll Do:
  • Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations.
  • Accurately cut cables for bench fabrication to assigned lengths. Sort and flag cutcables for rack lacing and/or shipment to project sites as directed.
  • Prepare and label cables for fabrication both by hand as well as by use ofautomated striping machines per Diversified standards.
  • Execute and test cable terminations for all Broadcast, Network and A/V connectors
  • Ability to read and understand cable wirelists as well as project drawings anddocumentation for cable fabrication
  • Prepping and packing of racks for shipment to job sites.
  • Preparation of equipment racks for staging of equipment, wire lacing includinginstallation of power strips, grounding bars, jack-fields, etc.
  • Mount equipment into racks, terminate all wiring and connections to equipment asper the technical drawings
  • Able to read and understand functional design drawings as well as equipment rackdiagrams.
  • Provide a consistent level of technical performance as well as flexibility in workschedule. This position requires periodic overtime and may require regular overtime for extended periods to meet fabrication deadlines
  • Able to build and wire custom panels from engineering drawings.
  • Fiber optic cable handling, installation termination and testing.
  • Maintain relationships with CAD and Engineering and provide feedback forefficiencies as encountered during fabrication.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to other fabrication staff to interpret drawings and enhance builds.
  • Maintain an organized work environment specifically orderliness and cleanliness ofthe shop and jobsites.
  • Responsible for maintaining tools and test equipment, materials inventories andkeeping things clean, orderly and well documented.
  • Responsible for tracking, maintaining their personal licenses, certifications andqualifications. (some states have specific requirement in this area)
  • Maintain daily record of time worked on specific projects for timesheet entry
