A leading aerospace company seeks an Engineering Special Process Owner dedicated to advancing inspection technologies. The role involves engineering support to enhance performance across MRO facilities globally. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree and significant experience in aircraft engine inspection. Roles and Responsibilities:
Engineering Special Process Owner (SPO) associated with inspection (Gate 1) processes
Technical expert for measurement and inspection processes providing shop support to drive business improvements (delivery, quality, safety, cost, scrap reduction, etc.)
Coordinate with global peers to leverage best practices, communicate lessons learned, and drive Gate 1 improvements
Industrialize new inspection (Gate 1) equipment and processes including defining resource needs, Engine Manual interpretation, Mfg process flow, and digital/IT infrastructure enhancements
Ability to interpret engineering Engine Manual (EM) and Standard Practice Manual (SPM) requirements and institute best practices, interpretation, and measuring for surface and sub-surface anomalies and dimensional characteristics. Institutionalize LEAN practices to improve delivery
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of aircraft engine inspection experience (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of aircraft engine inspection experience).
Desired Characteristics:
Comprehensive knowledge of underlying repair shop inspection principles, approaches, and initiatives
Familiarity with non-destructive testing such as structured light inspection, Eddy Current, FPI, Infra-red inspection, and Ultrasonic testing
Familiar with optical and dimensional inspection equipment and processes
Familiarity and ability to improve fielded hardware cleaning practices (process flow and practices associated with chemical cleaning, high pressure waterjet, and mechanical scrubbing).
Familiar with GD&T, GR&R, and SPC
Ability to support the design and adoption of inspection tooling and fixturing
Understanding and ability to direct LEAN improvements
Understanding of shop operations and manufacturing processes
Familiar with IT and digital processes (data flow and management)
Solid project management skills and demonstrated history of effective horizontal leadership
Ability to collaborate within a global network and peers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with shop operators and business leaders to drive improvements
Analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions
Ability to calculate and present business cases in support of change
Ability to interpret and understand aircraft engine manuals and understanding and working knowledge of MRO operations
Working knowledge of MS Office
Global candidates acceptable, travel and flexibility in schedule required to support MRO network footprint.
